DESCRIPTION:Family Design Day x 5 Pillars of Hip Hop\n\nJoin 3rd EyE\, DATMA\, and Superflat NB for a night of graffiti\, music\, and public art — add your creative touch to graffiti walls and community murals during May AHA! All art supplies will be provided at the event. \nDATMA’s Community Murals highlight the importance of STEAM in public art. Learn about DATMA’s upcoming “Shelter 2023” exhibitions\, including a new mural coming to New Bedford by artist Silvia Lopez Chavez. Explore techniques for painting and stenciling that will be used in the mural with local artists from Superflat NB.\n\n3rd Eye’s 5 Pillars of Hip Hop event is created in partnership with the New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park\, the series takes the elements of hip hop (MC\, DJ\, Graffiti\, Breaking\, Knowledge) and places them in culturally significant locations thus becoming a vehicle for both placekeeping and placemaking. Each workshop highlights the history of each urban art form while showcasing local talent. \nThis event is presented in collaboration with 3rd EyE\, Superflat NB\, and New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park as part of AHA! New Bedford and SouthCoast Spring Arts Week.
