DESCRIPTION:DATMA Design Day: Public Art Pop-up!\nCreate your own Door of New Bedford and become part of a pop-up community art installation — happening between the Park Service Garden and Mark Reigelman’s “Threshold” sculpture at Custom House Square. \nDrawing on the unique architecture of New Bedford\, Mark Reigelman’s “Threshold” installation represents history\, community\, and pride in our local landscape. Get inspired to create your own design by exploring historic architecture and some of the city’s most special doorways with the New Bedford Preservation Society and New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park. Participants are invited to “install” their door along a short path to Custom House Square\, as part of DATMA’s pop-up art installation during AHA! \nStop by one of our creation stations at Custom House Square & the Park Service garden  \n  \n  \n \n+ Free In-Person Summer Walking Tour Series On AHA! NIGHTS \nJoin a free walking tour (meeting at the same location) hosted by our partners at  New Bedford Preservation Society \n\nNew Bedford in the Civil War Tour\, July 13\, 2023\, 6PM \nGather at Custom House Square\, New Bedford Whaling National Park. \n\nJoin tour guide extraordinaire Bruce Barnes as he explores the impact of the Civil War\, 1861-1865\, on New Bedford and the contribution of the city to the war effort. Stops include the landmark sites within the Historic District. DESCRIPTION:Explore local art in Downtown New Bedford\n  \nIn conjunction with the Seaport Art Walk\, DATMA will be highlighting one of our four exhibitions\, Open Studios on the Sidewalk. During AHA! New Bedford on Thursday\, July 13 a special opening tour of the outdoor exhibit with the artists will take place at 6:30 p.m.\, beginning at Buzzards Bay Coalition\, 114 Front Street.This tour will take about 90 minutes of walking. \nThe 10th annual Seaport Art Walk promises an unforgettable experience for art enthusiasts\, families\, and visitors of all ages. Beginning this July and running through October\, immerse yourself in the beauty and creativity of the New Bedford waterfront along the 10th annual Seaport Art Walk. Learn about the incredible artist line-up of Seaport Art Walk celebrating it’s 10 years of presenting public art. \n  \n \nAbout Seaport Art Walk: \nSeaport Art Walk is facilitated by New Bedford Creative\, housed at the New Bedford Economic Development Council\, and a collaboration with the City of New Bedford’s Parks\, Recreation and Beaches\, Destination New Bedford\, Massachusetts Design\, Art\, and Technology Institute (DATMA)\, New Bedford Fishing Heritage Center\, UMASS Dartmouth’s College of Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA)\, and Bristol Community College (BCC) Visual and Performing Arts Department. \n  \nThis program is supported in part by a grant from the New Bedford Cultural Council\, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council\, a state agency\, as well as the City of New Bedford’s Arts\, Culture and Tourism Fund\, with additional support from Bristol County Savings Bank. \n  \nAbout New Bedford Creative: \nNew Bedford Creative is a dynamic program of the New Bedford Economic Development Council committed to promoting arts\, culture\, and creativity in New Bedford.
