New Bedford Fishing Heritage Center and DATMA present the film, Haeneyo – Wisdom of the Sea, on Thursday, August 18th at 7:00pm.
Directed by Lygia Barbosa, the documentary follows award-winning Brazilian photographer Luciano Candisani embarking in a new journey, interested by the story of a group of women who take their living from the sea. He will cross the world to portrait the story of the daily work of these heroines and bring awareness to a vital necessity of modern times: sustainability.
The film is in Portuguese with English subtitles. Free and open to the public. The film will be shown outdoors in the National Park Garden. In the event of inclement weather, we will move indoors with limited seating available on a first come, first serve basis. Masks will be required indoors.
