DATMA Design Days: Geometry of Spacetime with Taylor Hickey

Local artist Taylor Hickey will lead a design-based printmaking activity inspired by the shorter days of fall. This workshop offers attendees a hands-on introduction to printmaking through everyday items and materials that families may already have at home. Families will come away with their own paper lantern that can be set out in celebration of the Halloween season.

“The Geometry of Spacetime” is a sculptural installation featuring artist Taylor Hickey’s hand-built forms created from linocut, paper sculpture, and LEDs.

About the artist:

Taylor Hickey is a printmaker, bookmaker, and sculptor working out of New Bedford, Massachusetts. Born in Southeast Texas, Taylor earned her BA in Drawing and Printmaking from McNeese State University in Louisiana. She went on to earn an MFA in Printmaking from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in 2021, developing a body of work which pays homage to the human endeavor to understand the universe at large.
