Lt Gov. Driscoll celebrates grand opening of BLKChip Gallery. Photo credit Josh Qualls/Governor’s Office

Our Keynote for this year’s event is the prestigious Massachusetts Lt. Gov Kimberly Driscoll. While Mayor of Salem, Kim Driscoll was a strong advocate for the arts. She started a formal public art initiative through the development of a master plan for public art, the adoption of a Public Art Ordinance, and by hiring the city’s first Public Art Planner. Not only did this revive Salem’s downtown pedestrian mall but it was an investment that added vibrancy to Salem’s neighborhoods, brought people together, attracted tourists to visit and stay longer, and served as a driver for economic development. Now as Lt. Governor of Massachusetts, Kim Driscoll and Governor Maura Healey have made significant investments in arts, culture, tourism and creativity, emphasizing the valuable impact of the arts. Their administration continues to support artists by showcasing local work at the State House regularly and investing in the art and culture workforce.
