It’s not clear if Mary Poppins will be attending next year’s kite festival, but so far we’ve got a good list of kite groups who promise to bring their wildly colorful wings, tethers, and anchors to Fort Taber the last Saturday of July in 2019.
This one-day free to all event will take flight at 10am, Saturday, July 27, 2019 (rain date Sunday, July 28). We encourage kite flyers of all levels to join us at Fort Taber or just bring a blanket and a picnic to enjoy the aerial spectacle. We’ll have New England kite groups orchestrating demonstrations from rare kites to kite ballet. You can even make your own kite thanks to the artMOBILE, the purple bus that travels from park to park offering art projects for kids. ArtMOBILE, a program operated by New Bedford Art Museum/ArtWorks!, will be parked right up on the grass next to the kite flying action.
Thanks to the New Bedford Parks Service and The Fort Taber~Fort Rodman Historical Association for the support and allowing us to host our event at the historical Fort Taber. It’s going to be a beautiful day on the ocean flying kites on New Bedford’s coast. Learn more about Fort Taber at www.forttaber.org
