DATMA Design Day: Public Art Pop-up!
Create your own Door of New Bedford and become part of a pop-up community art installation — happening between the Park Service Garden and Mark Reigelman’s “Threshold” sculpture at Custom House Square.
Drawing on the unique architecture of New Bedford, Mark Reigelman’s “Threshold” installation represents history, community, and pride in our local landscape. Get inspired to create your own design by exploring historic architecture and some of the city’s most special doorways with the New Bedford Preservation Society and New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park. Participants are invited to “install” their door along a short path to Custom House Square, as part of DATMA’s pop-up art installation during AHA!

New Bedford in the Civil War Tour, July 13, 2023, 6PM
Gather at Custom House Square, New Bedford Whaling National Park.
Join tour guide extraordinaire Bruce Barnes as he explores the impact of the Civil War, 1861-1865, on New Bedford and the contribution of the city to the war effort. Stops include the landmark sites within the Historic District. The Summer 2023 NBPS Walking Tour Series is made possible by the generous support of the New Bedford Cultural Council.
