Introducing:

 

Patrick Moore

Contemporary mixed media artist currently living in New Bedford.

Having shelter can feel like you have a place in this world. Maybe not in the physical sense, but more like you can draw inspiration from your surroundings and you can feel like you belong to someplace special.

While studying Illustration at UMASS Dartmouth, he eventually became interested in painting. Working primarily in acrylic paint and collage, Patrick utilizes bold gestural strokes on large canvas to create colorful patterns inspired by graffiti and cityscapes.

I currently make art at Hatch Street Studios in New Bedford. Sharing space with other artists gives me a sense of community and is a source of inspiration.

As a graduate of UMASS Dartmouth I feel as if I have strong roots in the SouthCoast. I had moved away from the area upon graduation in 1997 and returned twelve years later in 2009. Initially it was meant to be a temporary stay, but I quickly reconnected with the art community and never left. Being surrounded by other creative people provides constant inspiration. It seems there’s always something happening around here, whether it’s live music at a local pub, a great show at The Zeiterion Theater, or accessible public art. I truly am proud to call New Bedford my home.
